Jared and Scot

Jared and Scot have been friends for almost twenty years, having met when they both were on the board of the Pride Foundation in Seattle. Jared has had a 25-year career in the Seattle nonprofit and foundation sectors including the West Seattle Food Bank, the Seattle Foundation and Fred Hutch. Scot has had a 22-year career in the Seattle telecommunications sector including Qwest and T-Mobile. Over lunch in the spring of 2018 they both admitted that they were thinking of making a career change, and both were thinking about opening a bakery. After a lot of discussion, great advice from many bakery owners who took the plunge before we did, and too many visits to local bakeries to count, they decided to make the leap and formed Batch Baking Company in November of 2018.

Jared

Jared has been a home baker for as long as he can remember. He loves to experiment and try new things and loves to share what he makes with family, friends, and co-workers. His baking hobby started early, when he and his brother would make cookies after school, often having to run to a neighbor to borrow an egg or half a cup of sugar to complete a recipe. A childhood neighbor, an artist and poet, captured the spirit of the neighborhood baker in her poem “Door.”

Scot

Scot has always liked a sweet treat. He fondly remembers going to the pantry of his great aunt’s farmhouse kitchen to sneak a cookie from the jar, which he still owns. Sugar meltaways, icebox cookies, and numerous Norwegian holiday sweets were among his favorites. He also enjoys putting on a party and helping other people feel welcome. He cannot wait for you to have your first “YUM” moment with Batch Baking Company.
